Trip To Palazzo Pitti (Boboli Gardens)

25-January-2013

Hello all, again from Florence. School has now begun and the sight seeing trips to various locations have become fewer and farther spaced apart, however, we were able to take the early afternoon today to travel across the Arno River and visit Palazzo Pitti and two of the museums which it holds. Admission to the Palazzo museum would usually cost 12 Euro, but luckily for us students, we have museum cards through the school which get us free access to all the museums in Florence, as well as first priority standing in lines. The first museum within Palazzo Pitti we visited was the Argenti. This museum housed many of the relics and fine ornaments from various families throughout the history of Florence, including the Medici Family, who were the political dynasty in Florence from 14th Century up until 1737. The items in this museum were pretty amazing and included many gold and crystal relics, ornate statuettes, and extraordinary examples of paintings on walls and ceilings which demonstrated the florentines understanding of perspective at a very early year. Following about an hour long visit to that museum, we stepped out into the Boboli Gardens which provided beautiful views to the town and landscape of Florence, as well as, personally, my first extensive sighting of grass in weeks which proved to be extremely relaxing and comforting. The photos that follow document the trip through the Boboli gardens. Enjoy.
